Workgroup of Prof. Dr. Andreas Eckart

The research group of Prof. Andreas Eckart is a very international group with members from countries all over the world.

Our research is focused on the centers of galaxies and their interaction with the central supermassive black hole. On the one hand, we observe the center of our Galaxy, the Milky Way (see Galactic Center), on the other hand, we observe nearby Active Galaxies and analyze the properties of their host galaxies and their central regions (see e.g. LLQSO).

Modern research strongly depends on state-of-the-art observing facilities and instrumentation. Therefore, we are involved in instrumentation projects for the ESO-Very large telescope (GRAVITY), the Large Binocular Telescope (LINC-NIRVANA), and the James-Webb-Telescope (MIRI).

If you have questions about our research or if you are interested in a research project for a Bachelor, Master, or PhD-thesis, do not hesitate to contact us.
