Overview
We developed patch array antennas for Terahertz quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) to improve the optical quality of the beams emitted by the devices. The design also includes an outcoupling reflector which can be adapted to the optimum reflectivity for a given laser.
This laser is the heart of the new 4.7 THz local oscillator for the HFA array of upGREAT on SOFIA
