Protostellar discs and jets

On scales of individual prestellar cores, radiative feedaback of newly born protostars significantly affects the stability and thus fragmentation properties of the surrounding discs. By means of SPH simulations utilizing the freely avaibable code GANDALF, we investigate fragmentation properties of prestellar cores sampled from the Core Mass Funtion.

We use a model for radiative feedback and a novel sub-grid model for episodic protostellar jets and outflows.

In this way we are able to study the formation of binaries and multiple systems, the emergence of the Initial Mass Funtion of stars and the effect on feedback on sub-pc scales on the star formation efficiency.
